Six municipalities to consider forming regional EMS authority

Six Delaware County municipalities will hold a joint public hearing and special meetings on Wednesday, Sept. 2, to consider creating a regional municipal authority to administer emergency medical services. The boroughs of Media, Rose Valley, Rutledge and Swarthmore, along with Nether Providence and Upper Providence townships, will meet at Strath Haven Middle School in Wallingford to hold the hearing required under the Pennsylvania Municipality Authorities Act before considering ordinances to establish a joint municipal authority. If approved, the authority would administer emergency medical services on behalf of the participating municipalities, designate each municipality as part of the authority's service district, authorize articles of incorporation and appoint the initial members of the authority's governing board as part of a regional approach to EMS service delivery.
